Step #1
Prepare a resume.
- Resume Star event at the ASHA Convention in Atlanta (last November)
- Stop by Career Development (in the library lobby)
Step #2
Once your resume is up to snuff, search for an internship using the resources listed below:
- Post your resume on the ASHA Career Center. (NSSLHA members can post a resume in the ASHA Career Center for FREE.)
- Use ProSearch to locate a professional in private practice in your area. Send
- your resume
- a cover letter (why you are interested in an internship)
- Share your resume on a Special Interest Group page on the ASHA Community.(NSSLHA members are able to join a SIG for $10.)
- Visit the career center of a state association website and post your resume. ASHA has links to all of the state association sites on its State-by-State website.
- Google search for summer camps for individuals with special needs. We've done some of the work for you already :)
If you successfully nail down an internship, send your story to nsslha@asha.org under the subject line "My experience finding an internship."
